Air-layer composite fabric refers to a fabric with a three-layer composite structure formed by adding an air layer between two base fabrics. This air layer gives the fabric excellent warmth retention, breathability, and moisture absorption, while effectively reducing the fabric's weight and thickness.

Air-layer fabric is a functional textile fabric, belonging to textile accessories. It uses a special weaving process to form a three-layer structure: an outer layer, a middle air layer, and a bottom layer, utilizing the still air layer to achieve thermal insulation. This fabric originated from diving suits in the 1950s.

The main materials of air-layer fabric include polyester, polyester-spandex, and polyester-cotton-spandex blends. Its advantages include significant warmth retention, wrinkle resistance, good moisture absorption, and good elasticity. Disadvantages include the surface layer easily attracting dust, difficulty in eliminating wrinkles, relatively heavy fabric, and susceptibility to snagging and scratching. This fabric is widely used in thermal underwear, outdoor sportswear, and equipment.
